In 2020, we asked the council to resurface a footpath opposite the canal in Foleshill and to take action over persistent fly-tipping.
In 2021, the council installed a new bollard and ANPR camera near the footpath. However, the bollard was later ripped out by vandals and had to be replaced.
Unfortunately, this also hasn’t stopped fly-tippers from dumping rubbish around it.
What’s more, the council still hasn’t resurfaced the footpath which can attract fly-tipping because the area looks neglected.
Earlier this year, we sent a Freedom of Information request to the council asking when full resurfacing works will be completed and how many interim repairs have been carried out since April 2021.
The council initially said it had no plans for full resurfacing but had carried out 17 repairs. However, when asked how much this cost the council said it made a mistake and had only carried out 2 repairs at a cost of approximately £900.
Furthermore, residents are still putting down bits of carpet to walk over because the council hasn’t carried out proper repairs or full resurfacing.
Sadly, there’s also lots of fly-tipping along the footpath which still hasn’t been removed since the photos below were first taken.
